Better Buildings Ottawa 2022

Community buildings aggregate energy, water, greenhouse gas performance for buildings in the Better Buildings Ottawa program in 2022. Update Frequency: Annual

Attributes: State: state of the property can be “Final: Disclosed” if all information for the property is provided and is accurate or could be “Registered” if there are missing information for the property and is not present on the VIZ Map. Cycles: the calendar years for which property data has been provided. Address: the address of property. property-name: the name of property. property-type: The property type indicates the single, primary use of property. However, there are two different property types: Self-Selected and Portfolio Manager-Calculated. year-built: the year when property was built. Province: province in which property is located. City: the city where property is located. postal-code: postal code of property. Longitude: Longitude coordinates of property’s location Latitude: Latitude coordinates of property’s location. primary-contact-organization: primary point of contact for the organization. energy-star: This refers to the Energy Star Score which is a measure of how well property is performing relative to similar properties, when normalized for climate and operational characteristics. site-eui (ekWh/m²): Annual amount of all the energy the property consumes on-site divided by the property square meter. source-eui (ekWh/m²): the total amount of all the raw fuel required to operate your property, including the losses during generation, transmission, and distribution, divided by the property square meter. total-ghgs (tCO₂e): Sum of direct and indirect (location-based) GHG emissions. Direct emissions are those associated with onsite fuel combustion while indirect emissions are those that occur at the utility’s plant. ghg-intensity (kgCO₂e/m²): total emissions of CO2, methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O) gases released into the atmosphere as a result of energy consumption at the property. GHG emissions are expressed in carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) per square meter. water-use-intensity (l/m²): sum of all water meters divided by the building square meter. (not including parking or irrigated area). Further reading about these fields can be found at: https://www.energystar.gov/buildings/tools-and-resources.
