2021 Census: Languages - Spoken at Home (CMA CSD)
Statistics Canada 2021 Census of Population: Total population by languages spoken most often at home for both Kingston CMA and CSD (City of Kingston, South Frontenac, Loyalist, and Frontenac Islands).
This layer provides detailed data on languages spoken most often at home based on the 2021 Census of Population by Statistics Canada, focusing on Kingston Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) and associated Census Subdivisions (CSD), including the City of Kingston, South Frontenac, Loyalist, and Frontenac Islands. This summary highlights total population counts for individual languages spoken most often at home, which refers to the language the individual speaks most often at home or is most comfortable with. A person can report more than one language if they are spoken equally.
Standard geography census profiles for the Kingston CMA and CSD geographies use data from both the short‑form (100% sample) and long‑form databases, depending on the variable. Custom geography census profiles, including Electoral Districts and Neighbourhood‑level profiles, are created entirely from the long‑form (25% sample) census database.
To protect respondent confidentiality, all Census data is processed using Statistics Canada’s Random Rounding method. This technique randomly adjusts numbers up or down to the nearest 0 or 5, helping ensure privacy while keeping overall results as accurate and unbiased as possible.
Because of these differences in data sources and rounding methods, users may notice that some counts do not align perfectly across variables or geographic levels.
