2021 Census: Indigenous Peoples (Electoral Districts)

Statistics Canada 2021 Census of Population: Indigenous identity statistics, including totals and age range breakdowns by Indigenous identity groups for City of Kingston's Electoral Districts.

This layer includes data from Statistics Canada 2021 Census of Population with a focus on the Indigenous Identity population within the City of Kingston's Electoral Districts.  Indigenous Identity data in this layer includes population age range breakdowns for Indigenous identity, single Indigenous identity responses, First Nations identity responses, Métis identity responses, Inuk (Inuit) identity responses, and multiple Indigenous identity responses.  Indigenous Identity refers to those who reported they identify with the Indigenous peoples of Canada, including First Nations, Métis and/or Inuk(Inuit).

It is important to note that Indigenous identity data derived from Statistics Canada Census of Population may not fully reflect  Indigenous community-defined citizenship, membership or belonging. Data should be used with caution as census estimates may be affected by incomplete enumeration of some First Nations communities and other data quality considerations. Data should be interpreted in conjunction with Indigenous-led knowledge and local community information.

Custom geography census profiles, including Electoral Districts and Neighbourhood‑level profiles, are created entirely from the long‑form (25% sample) census database. Standard geography census profiles for the Kingston CMA and CSD geographies use information from both the short‑form (100% sample) and long‑form databases, depending on the variable.

To protect respondent confidentiality, all Census data is processed using Statistics Canada’s Random Rounding method. This technique randomly adjusts numbers up or down to the nearest 0 or 5, helping ensure privacy while keeping overall results as accurate and unbiased as possible.

Because of these differences in data sources and rounding methods, users may notice that some counts do not align perfectly across variables or geographic levels.
