Forest Resources Inventory Term 2 (T2) Orthophotography
This orthophotography was collected to support the Forest Resources Inventory process from 2018–2027. The orthophotos are considered foundational data and will be used in GIS analysis, remote sensing analysis, mapping, asset management, environmental management, planning, and for background reference data. Orthophotography is generated using cameras mounted on aircraft. The individual images are processed to provide a spatially accurate depiction of the Earth’s surface.
Forest Resources Inventory (FRI) supports forest management decisions. The Forest Resources Inventory Unit aims to make digital orthophotography available. This collection was acquired as part of the Term 2 ("T2") inventory development process, supporting improved inventory production in certain forests. The ministry captures this data for planning and operational support in natural resource management, base feature update and forest inventory production.
- Time of Capture: 2018 to 2027 between June 1st to Sept 15th)
- Coverage: As shown on maps
- Canopy Coverage: Leaf-On
- Data will be added as it is flown
The data was collected in 4-band images. By default, the data will display in False Colour Infrared (Bands 1,2,3), which will appear Pink for vegetated areas. This approach helps us understand the species composition of the forest. You may change the representation to Natural Colour (Bands 2,3,4), where vegetation appears Green.
This orthophotography product has been contrast-enhanced to improve general viewability. It is intended as a product for viewing, not spectral analysis.
