Saskatchewan's Geological Laboratories

This is a story map about the Government of Saskatchewan's two geological facilities.

The Government of Saskatchewan operates two geological facilities that hold geological samples recovered from Saskatchewan’s subsurface and represent over 80 years of exploration for mineral and energy resources: the Regina Subsurface Laboratory and the La Ronge Precambrian Laboratory. These facilities contain valuable samples that are used by geologists in industry, research, education and government to better understand the rocks deep beneath our feet and the economic resources that they hold. You might consider these Subsurface Geological Laboratories as ‘rock libraries’. As scientific ideas evolve and as needs change, new generations of geologists utilize the material stored at these libraries and continue to investigate and analyze in search of answers.
