AUSTRAL2017 - Stratospheric Balloon Flight – Canadian Space Agency (CSA) Stratos Telemetry Subsystem

Here is data coming from a balloon, as high as the Eiffel all, and whose utility is to test new technology applications before being placed on satellites for long-duration space missions.

This dataset contains the telemetry data obtained from the different sub systems during the AUSTRAL2017 mission and two sets of pictures from different cameras. The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) STRATOS program participated in the AUSTRAL2017 flight campaign which took place in Australia on April 8, 2017. One of the goals of this flight was to launch hardware at altitudes of around 40 kilometres and observe the different data that was captured throughout the flight. The available data concern: 1 - Raw A2D data from battery fail safe card; 2 - Housekeeping data from battery fail safe card; 3 - A2D from battery fail safe card, converted to engineering unit; 4 - Data Acquisition Module (Rasp.Pi) - Hardware related telemetry; 5 - Data Acquisition Module (Rasp.Pi) - Housekeeping telemetry; 6 - Event messages from Data Acquisition Module; 7 - Real-Time Clock telemetry; 8 - NovAtel OEM729 GPS receiver telemetry; 9 - UBLOX GPS receiver telemetry; 10 - UBLIX GPS receiver telemetry; 11 - Pictures of two cameras on board (one pointing straight down, one pointing at the horizon).

STRATOS, the CSA stratospheric balloon program, was created in 2012 through the CSA's collaboration with France's space agency (CNES). This program gives Canadian academia and industry the opportunity to test and validate new technologies and to perform scientific experiments at an altitude where only balloons can be operated.
