2014 Public Service Employee Survey Results

The Public Service Employee Survey (PSES) is led by the Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer (Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat), in collaboration with Statistics Canada. The survey, which has been conducted every three years since 1999, measures federal public servants’ opinions in relation to employee engagement, leadership, the workforce and the workplace. The 2014 PSES was conducted between August 25 and October 3, 2014. A total of 182,165 employees in 93 federal departments and agencies responded to the survey, for a response rate of 71.4%. 2014 Data files contain the PSES results by year (2014, 2011 and 2008) for the Public Service and departments/agencies, and results broken down by demographic characteristics (e.g., age, occupational group) and departments/agencies' organizational structure. Results for 2011 and 2008 are only provided for questions repeated in the 2014 PSES. Notice of correction: Datasets have been revised and updated on March 5, 2015. Results pertaining to duty to accommodate (questions 81, 82 and 83) and results broken down by question 86 (shift worker), which were not available at the time of publication, have been added to the datasets. Results broken down by question 90 (occupational groups), question 91 (occupational levels) and variable K_D90G (occupational category derived from question 90) have been revised and updated. Datasets have also been revised and updated on May 20, 2015. Results for the LA and LP occupational groups and certain organizational units within certain departments and agencies have been revised and updated; this does not affect the results at the public service or department/agency levels.
