Results of the general municipal elections

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing makes available, for each municipality, the information provided, on a voluntary basis, by the presidents of elections during the 2005, 2009, 2013 and 2017 general elections. The data set specific to each election year includes a description of the variables, including: - The municipality; - The electoral district or neighborhood, when the territory of the municipality is divided for electoral purposes; - The elective position; - The candidate. NB: Preliminary results data will be available as of 8:15pm on November 7, 2021. The results for a position will be included in the file only when all the ballots have been counted for that position. Regular updates will be provided. Responsibility of the Ministry The data results from the entry by the electoral officers of the candidates and the electoral results into a computer application made available to them by the Ministry. Election officers do not have a legal obligation in this area. In fact, under the Act Respecting Elections and Referendums in Municipalities (LERM), the electoral officer must give the public notice mentioning the candidate elected for each position (LERM, art. 260): entering candidates and results into the computer application cannot replace this responsibility. In addition, the legal responsibility for maintaining electoral results belongs, where appropriate, to the clerk or secretary-treasurer (LERM, art. 658.1): the Ministry assumes no responsibility in this area. For these reasons, the data included in these data sets is provided for information purposes only and does not replace these obligations of the electoral officer. In the event of a discrepancy between these data and those kept by the municipality, those of the municipality prevail.
