Silviculture Investments

This spatial layer is based on RESULTS silviculture activity reporting and describes government-funded stand-tending treatments intended as investments (fertilization, juvenile spacing, pruning and commercial thinning) carried out province-wide since 2011. The objective of the layer is to help ensure that treated stands are not harvested prematurely before the return on investment is realized. This product is intended to help licensees and other stakeholders plan harvest locations in a way that optimizes the province’s silvicultural investments-- whether that means protecting a treated area from harvest until the treatment objectives are met, or harvesting a treated stand to realize the benefits of the investment. Provenance Text Provenance Text of the data.	This layer queries information directly from RESULTS tables ACTIVITY_TREATMENT_UNIT_SVW and OPENING_SVW to return individual silviculture activities (ACTIVITY_TREATMENT_UNIT_IDs) and their corresponding attributes (treatment dates, funding source, area treated, etc.). The query also makes two new attributes: PROTECT_UNTIL_DATE (for fertilization activities only at this moment) and HARVEST_PROTECTION_CRITERIA (describes the criteria that must be met before the activity area can be harvested). The geometry for each record comes from ACTIVITY_TREATMENT_UNIT_SVW geometry if available, and from OPENING_SVW if activity-specific geometry does not exist. The source of the geometry is clearly specified in the attribute SPATIAL_DATA_USED.
