Metadata for BC Demographic Survey - E01

Jun to Oct 2023 - The BC Demographic Survey contains questions that will be used to identify and understand systemic racism in government programs and services and identify where we can do better. Everyone deserves to live in a more equal and fairer BC where we all have opportunities to thrive. BC programs and services needs to consider the unique needs of Indigenous Peoples and racialized people. Your research of the survey results in combined with datasets from multiple Ministries can identify gaps in services, provide a better understanding of what is working, and help to create opportunities to change what is not.

Data was collected from June 6th, 2023 to October 15th, 2023 from people living in BC. The dataset includes race, ethnicity, ancestry, culture and other areas of identity. A random sample of BC households received a letter encouraging them to complete the survey. The survey was available online and by phone in 15 languages, paper surveys were available in English by request.
