Disaster Risk Reduction Funding Project Proponent Locations

This dashboard displays information about disaster risk reduction funding programs managed by the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness. This does not include wildfire risk reduction projects.

Data notes, terms of use, disclaimer and limitation of liability

The following data notes define the indicators presented on the public dashboard and describe the data sources involved. Data changes as new projects are identified, characteristics of projects change or are updated, and data corrections are made. Specific values may fluctuate in response to underlying system changes. The Disaster Risk Reduction Funding Dashboard will be updated as required.

Dashboard Scope:

This dashboard includes information about disaster risk reduction funding programs since 2016, managed by the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness. This does not include wildfire risk reduction projects. The Ministry of Forests is responsible for funding related to wildfire risk reduction, please see https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/prevention/funding-for-wildfire-prevention.

The funding value includes the actual dollar amount spent on completed projects and the approved funding for in-progress projects. This dashboard excludes cancelled, withdrawn, and ineligible projects; and projects not approved for funding.

Dashboard Usage Tips:

The dashboard is viewable on most browsers including Edge, Firefox, Safari or Chrome 64-bit Hover over charts to see additional information.

Click the top right corner of any chart/window to make it full screen. Click again to return to the dashboard view.

Data Sources:

Project value amounts are supplied by the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Change.

Project locations are geocoded based on the geographic representation of the project proponent location. Locations are purely administrative and do not represent the location of any result or deliverable of a project. Locations may not represent the exact location of a community, Nation, Band or government.

Where a project is regional and includes multiple applicants in a region, only the lead applicant will be listed as the proponent.

Definitions:

• Project Value represents the amount of funds approved for in-progress projects. Where a project is complete, the total value represents the actual amount of funds spent. There may be additional proponent contributions to projects that are not included here due to data availability.

• Program Area is the program through which the project was funded:

  • ARDM the Adaptation, Resilience and Disaster Mitigation (ARDM) program is a sub-stream under the Investing in Canada’s Infrastructure Program. This program is funded in part by the Government of Canada.

  • CEPF the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund (CEPF) is a suite of funding streams intended to enhance the resiliency of local governments, First Nations and communities in responding to emergencies. Funding is provided by the Province of BC and is administered by Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM).

  • Grants are individual projects that have been funded through the Province of BC.

  • NDMP the National Disaster Mitigation Program is a federal provincial cost-share program to address rising flood risks and costs, and builds the foundation for informed mitigation investments that could reduce, or even negate, the effects of flood events. This program is funded in part by the Government of Canada.

• Deliverable is the primary project output. Where the project has more than one deliverable, the main output has been selected.

• ESS stands for Emergency Support Services.

• EOC stands for Emergency Operations Centres.

• Hazard Type is the type of hazard the project is intended to address.
