In 2025, we completed several key links in the active transportation network, including the Bertram Overpass and Rowcliffe Park multi-use pathway, creating a new safe crossing of Highway 97. Additional upgrades across the network included the Mission Creek Bridge replacement, traffic calming in the Hollydell Neighborhood, Raymer Road sidewalk improvements, Abbott Street bike path improvements, and the Glenmeadows multi-use pathway retrofit. Our shared micromobility program and service agreement with Lime, enabled nearly 600,000 trips to be completed by shared electric kick scooter or e-bike. Car share membership and vehicle availability grew in 2025 from 2024 (673 to 788 members and 23 to 27 vehicles), supported by City policies that integrate car share spaces into new developments. In 2025, staff continued a research partnership with UBCO to explore the possibility of autonomous transit on major corridors connecting major urban hubs. Staff also delivered eight new crosswalk improvements, installed 1,700 metres of new sidewalk, developed a crosswalk network plan, updated our Bike Map, and hosted a successful GoByBike Week event with more than 4,500 participants. We will continue expanding our active transportation network and strengthening transit infrastructure. In 2026, we will continue building Kelowna’s active transportation network, with a key priority being the Bertram Active Transportation Corridor. This project will connect Sutherland over the Bertram Overpass, through downtown to the new downtown UBCO campus, and link to the Cawston multi‑use pathway. Construction of the Rutland Neighbourhood Bikeway, and Okanagan Rail Trail extension will also begin, along with delivery of additional bike network improvements on Airport Way, Kneller Road, Ellis Street, Lakeshore Road, and Hartman Road. New bike facilities will also be integrated into major road improvement and extension projects, including the Burtch Road improvements, and extension, Glenmore Road, Hollywood Road and Lakeshore Road. Key transit projects for 2026 are outlined in the Transit Ridership target section of this report.
