As part of its Watershed Health and Assessment Monitoring initiative, Ottawa Riverkeeper is working with citizen scientists to collect and analyse water quality across the watershed. For chlorophyll a, samples are collected from surface material (tiles) submerged in tributaries and the main stem. Samples are filtered through a glass fiber filter and analyzed using a solvent extraction and colorimetric quantitation. Efforts have been made to select locations that correspond to flow data or that do not have significant historical data for nutrients. The data collected for this initiative will provide a stronger understanding of water quality for the Ottawa River and its tributaries. // Dans le cadre de son initiative de surveillance de la santé et de l'évaluation des bassins versants, Garde-Rivière des Outaouais travaille avec des citoyens scientifiques pour recueillir et analyser la qualité de l'eau dans l'ensemble du bassin versant. Pour la chlorophylle a, les échantillons sont recueillis à partir de matériaux de surface (tuiles) immergés dans les tributaires et le cours principal. Les échantillons sont filtrés à travers un filtre en fibre de verre et analysés utilisant une extraction par solvant et une quantification colorimétrique. Nous avons choisi des endroits qui correspondent à des données sur le débit du fleuve ou qui n'ont pas de données historiques importantes sur les nutriments.
