Dispatched Calls For Service
This dataset contains Calls for Service (CFS) that require a mobile (or dispatched) police response from the Ottawa Police Service (OPS).
This dataset contains Calls for Service (CFS) that require a mobile (or dispatched) police response from the Ottawa Police Service (OPS). All information is generated from the OPS Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to support accurate and timely reporting.
This dataset does not include administrative calls or calls handled without dispatching officers.
For privacy reasons, the locations of the calls have been geomasked to the closest intersection. Due to ongoing police investigations and internal data quality control efforts, this information is subject to change, including addition, deletion and reclassification of any and all data.

Citizen-Initiated calls are received from the public through:
- 911
- Telephone
- TDD (for hearing-impaired callers)
- In-person contact
- Monitoring agencies
Officer Initiated calls are created by OPS officers when they identify an incident that needs police attention.
Call Response Protocol
The OPS assigns a priority level to each call. The priority reflects the seriousness of the situation and the safety considerations for the public and for responding officers. The circumstances of the incident determine the priority level. It is not based on the call type alone.
Priority Levels:
- Priority 1: All events involving a known imminent danger to life.
- Priority 2: All events that require a rapid police response where there is potential for serious bodily harm to occur.
- Priority 3: Incidents in which there is a reasonable belief that an extended delay in response may place persons, property, or evidence at risk.
- Priority 4: All other incidents that require a mobile response.
- Priority 5: Radio broadcast only.
- Priority 6: Alternate Response (Police Reporting Unit, Info Desk, Collision Reporting, Proactive Policing).
- Priority 7: Property room queue
