NTv2 Grid Shift Files for Ontario

The NTv2 (National Transformation version 2) binary grid shift files (.gsb format) in combination with the NTv2 standalone software or GIS software that embeds the NTv2 transformation methodology, provide a national standard for transforming coordina The NTv2 (National Transformation version 2) binary grid shift files (.gsb format) in combination with the NTv2 standalone software or GIS software that embeds the NTv2 transformation methodology, provide a national standard for transforming coordinate data between specific horizontal datums and specific realizations of those datums.

The files in the NTv2 package for Ontario include files for three areas of coverage.

Two national files that are included cover all of Canada. They are the NTV2_0.gsb (Canada NAD27(74) to NAD83 (Original)) file and the MAY76V20.gsb (Canada NAD27(MAY76) to NAD83 (Original)) file.

Three provincial files that are included cover all of Ontario. They are the ON27CSv1.gsb (Ontario NAD27(74) to NAD83-CSRS(1997)) file, the ON76CSv1.gsb (Ontario NAD27(MAY76) to NAD83-CSRS(1997)) file, and the ON83CSv1.gsb (Ontario NAD83 (Original) to NAD83-CSRS(1997)) file.

There is one file specifically for the City of Toronto which covers only the area of the City of Toronto. That file is the TOR27CSv1.gsb (Toronto NAD27(74) to NAD83-CSRS(1997)) file.
