Emergency Management Historical Events

This data shows the approximate locations of historical incident records in Ontario where the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) was involved.

Incidents may include:

community evacuations
impacts to infrastructure or communities
continuity of operations disruptions
situations where MNR provided expertise, resources or assistance

Not all records represent declared emergencies or emergency events.

Incidents fall into 1 of 10 type categories:

dam failure
drought or low water
erosion
flood
forest fire
soil and bedrock instability
Petroleum Resource Center event
Emergency Management Ontario (EMO) requested assistance
continuity of operations event
other requested assistance

Limitations
This dataset is not complete and includes the following gaps:

data does not capture all incidents
data has not been updated
data accuracy has not been verified
records do not imply that an emergency occurred or was declared.

The data is provided as is and should not be used beyond historical reference or context.
