Wetland Inventory Prioritization

As part of an initiative to create information that can be used by the Town of Okotoks to manage wetland habitats within their jurisdiction, Fiera Biological Consulting was engaged to inventory and prioritize wetlands for conservation and restoration within the Town.Specifically, this project included the creation of a historical and current wetland inventory, including as assessment of the drainage status of each wetland. Wetlands were delineated using a time series of air photos provided by the Town, Google Earth imagery, and terrain information from LiDAR provided by the Town. A priority score was assigned based on a number of metrics, such as size, permanence, and surrounding land cover. This file contains the wetlands assigned for priority (does not include constructed wetlands) outside of the built up area of the Town.
