Rural within the Sewerage Area

​Areas identified as “Rural within the Sewerage Area” are Rural lands within a Sewerage Area where regional sewer services will be permitted subject only to the land uses being consistent with regional land use designations and technical considerations.

Areas identified as “Rural within the Sewerage Area” are areas with a Rural regional land use designation and within a Sewerage Area where regional sewer servicing will be permitted subject only to the land uses being consistent with the applicable regional land use designation and normal Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage District technical considerations.

As background, Rural lands are intended to protect the existing character, landscapes, and environmental qualities of rural communities outside the Urban Containment Boundary. As such, land uses in these areas will not typically have access to regional sewerage services. This overlay allows Rural areas to access regional sewerage services.
