Physical Exposure Population - DCRRA
Settlement areas in BC grouped by building clusters showing land use from the 2016 census and business listings. It estimates building populations during commute hours (6-9am; 5-8pm) to capture transit occupancy.
The Physical Exposure component of the National Human Settlement Layer (NHSL), defined here as the ‘Physical Exposure Model’, includes a delineation of settled areas and related land use. Settled areas approximately delineate clusters of buildings across Canada. This layer is a subset covering British Columbia.
The inventory is derived from detailed housing statistics provided at the dissemination area level as part of the 2016 national census and from georeferenced business listings. Building populations are estimated for morning and evening commute hours (6am-9am; 5pm-8pm) to capture in transit building occupancy.
