Municipal government financial statistics
This dataset contains data provided to the provincial government by municipal governments in annual financial reporting forms. While the provincial government does perform checks of the data, we do not guarantee its accuracy or validity. Users should contact municipalities directly if confirmation is required. Beginning in 2008, the schedules have been amended to reflect Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for municipalities, thus some reports may differ from previous years. Dataset published starts at 2009, and contains only data that has been approved, data submitted but not approved is not published.Data is submitted by municipal governments following the close of their fiscal year (December 31). The date for data submission is May 15 of the following year and schedules are usually published in the Fall of that same year. The quality of information contained in the schedules depends on the inputs of municipal governments. Tax Rates: Municipal tax rate bylaws are required to be adopted before May 15th of each year. Tax rates are per $1,000 of assessed value.
