Historical Glaciers is a multi-part polygon dataset representing the circa 1985 extent of glaciers in British Columbia.
Please refer to the Glaciers dataset to represent recent glacier extent for the province of British Columbia. It is anticipated that the Glaciers dataset will be refreshed every few years based on more current imagery, and the previous version will be added to the Historical Glaciers dataset.

The Historical Glaciers dataset has not been delineated based on flow lines, watersheds, or name; rather, contiguous polygons have been merged (dissolved) into one mass. The dataset has been clipped to the [political boundary of British Columbia](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/province-of-british-columbia-boundary-terrestrial/). The structure of the dataset facilitates comparisons of glacier extent, both of individual glaciers and at regional and provincial scales. |
