Historic Places Spatial Layer (Public View)

The dataset includes polygons and attributes of all officially recognized historic sites in British Columbia that are post-1846 heritage sites registered on the BC Register of Historic Places as a statutory requirement of the Heritage Conservation Act. Historic places include buildings, neighbourhoods, trails, and cultural landscapes that contribute to BC’s unique identity and history.

This dataset includes historic places in British Columbia that have been officially recognized for their heritage values at the local government, provincial, and/or federal level through heritage conservation legislation under the Heritage Conservation Act, the Local Government Act, Vancouver Charter, Historic Sites and Monuments Act, etc.

This dataset does not include any archaeological site information. Please contact the Archaeology Branch for information on archaeological sites in British Columbia.

Note: This dataset replaces the Historic Environment Spatial Layer
