Fossil Collection Events
This spatial view contains information about known fossil collection events in British Columbia. Both macrofossils and microfossils are included. This is a point feature dataset that includes fossil collection event details such as a location descriptor, samples collected, significance ranking code, and related publications. The dataset is an inventory of known fossil collection locations from government survey and mapping work, paleontology research, industrial activities, and reports by recreational fossil collectors.

Some fossil collection event datasets were provided by the Geological Survey of Canada who provides the province with annual data updates. This initial dataset has been augmented with information from other government report and publications, and reported findings by researchers, the public and industries. This dataset was previously published as WHSE_LAND_AND_NATURAL_RESOURCE.FOSS_FOSSIL_OCCURNCE_SITES_SP. Updates to the dataset name and attribution occurred on May 28, 2025.
