Forest Biodiversity - BC Cumulative Effects Framework - 2025 Assessment
NOTE: This dataset is the result of an analysis of many input layers and as such the accuracy, currency, and completeness of the dataset cannot be relied upon for operational use.

The following regions are included in the geodatabase:
- Cariboo Region
- Omineca Region
- Skeen Region - There is known data uncertainty in the Cassiar TSA. Please review the Data Uncertainty - Cassiar TSA document for more information. Use the Data Uncertainty layer in the data package to identify this area.

The Interim Assessment Protocol for Forest Biodiversity in British Columbia describes the procedure for assessing cumulative effects on forest biodiversity. This is done through assessment of hazards (which are a source of harm or have the potential to cause harm to the value) that are combined to determine the overall risk. Each hazard is assessed by measuring indicators to determine the current condition. In the Forest Biodiversity assessment, there are three hazards considered: Habitat Change, Habitat Connectivity, and Species Disturbance. Habitat Change considers the loss of forest habitats through conversion to alternate land uses, or the alteration or degradation of forest structural conditions resulting in disruption in habitat use. Habitat Connectivity considers the breaking apart of continuous habitat into multiple patches which can isolate remaining habitat patches and affect species day-to-day movements, dispersal, seasonal migration or range shifts. Species Disturbance considers changes in species behavior, biology, or interactions which can lead to habitat avoidance, increases in inter-species competition, predation, parasitism or disruption in mutualistic relationships between species. Hazard ratings are based on the departure of observed (current) conditions from expected (historical) conditions. Finally, the combined hazard ratings provide the overall Forest Biodiversity Risk.
