BC Cumulative Effects Framework – Integrated Roads - Archived

This catalogue entry holds the archived versions of the BC Cumulative Effects Integrated Roads layers. It is recommended to use the most recent version available, access at the following link: https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/a489bc6a-f676-4503-8cd7-dcf0bdf2ae99

BC CEF Integrated Roads contains linework and attributes conflated from publicly accessible sources from the BC Geographic Warehouse (BCGW), which represent both built roads and road tenures. The dataset was created for spatial assessment in a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for provincial-scale Cumulative Effects Framework (CEF) analysis in British Columbia (BC) Canada: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/environment/natural-resource-stewardship/cumulative-effects-framework.

This data set was created using the process and scripts documented on Simon Norris’ archived roadintegrator GitHub repository: https://github.com/bcgov/CE_integratedroads. Please refer to the accompanying spreadsheet (.xlsx) listing input data sources, and their respective BC Data Catalogue record hyperlinks.

This data set was created from data with varying levels of quality, accuracy and completeness, and should not be used for navigation, or site-specific analysis. No new data is included in the Integrated Roads dataset that does not already exist elsewhere. One example use of this data set is to generate road density (KM of distance by KM2 of area) for coarse estimations of resource roads at the regional scale, in absence of a single, authoritative, public-accessible and annually updated BC resource road data set.
