Aquatic Ecosystems - BC Cumulative Effects Framework - 2020 Assessment
The Protocol is currently designed to be a coarse-level approach to depict data at a broader (provincial) scale and to allow for refinements in data at a finer (regional) scale or for multi-scaled analyses where desired and appropriate. The assessment results based on this Protocol indicate the modelled condition of the value derived from Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis. Results are intended to inform strategic and tactical decision making and may also provide relevant context for operational decision making. Engaging local value experts to identify additional regional scale information – if applicable – and to support interpretation and application of results is encouraged. Based on a review of existing direction for the management of watersheds and aquatic ecosystems, existing broad objectives can be categorized into three themes that guide the assessment procedure: 1. Sustain water quality; 2. Sustain water quantity; and 3. Sustain hydrological & aquatic ecosystem functions and processes. For more information please visit the BC Cumulative Effects Framework website and the Aquatic Ecosystems Value website.
The data and application linked in the resources represents the resultant assessment data in the following natural resource regions: - Northeast Natural Resource Region - Kootenay-Boundary Natural Resource Region - South Coast Natural Resource Region - West Coast Natural Resource Region - Skeena Natural Resource Region (Assessment units not within Skeena Sustainable Assessment Forum area)
