Road Centrelines

Line data representing the street centreline of all roads within Cochrane municipal boundary. *The following fields in this dataset are under development until further notice and may not be accurate or complete: FromAddr_L, ToAddr_L, FromAddr_R, ToAddr_R, SpeedLimit, Parity_L, Parity_R, and Label Unbuilt roads can be removed using this query: BUILT_CODE = 'B'

CLASS_CODE (CLASS_CODE):

As defined in the City of Calgary documentation

Only these codes are being used at this time

A = Alley

C=Collector

H = Primary Highway Paved

M = Major, applies to all roads within the town that are not an Access Route, Alley, or a Primary Highway

P = Pathway, any pathway used to access a town facility

R = Rural Road, any road that is outside of the Town of Cochrane's boundary

U = Access Route, used with emergency access roads

X = Ramp

StreetCodes (ST_CODE):

Used to determine Annotation Classes

As used by Town of Cochrane Geomatics

Alley - most are paved and maybe confused with a regular road. They have no road name assigned

Driveway - used to access acreages with or without homes. They have no road name assigned

Emergency Access Road, an access road into a community and has a fire gate at each end. They have no road name assigned

Highway - These are owned and maintained by the provincial government i.e. HWY 1A (Bow Valley Trail) and HWY 22 (Cowboy Trail)

Main - All secondary roads feed into a main road i.e. most but not all Roads (Horse Creek Road), Boulevards (Sunset Boulevard), Drives (Sunset Drive), Ways (Riviera Way), Avenues ( Fifth Avenue)

Parking Lot - Represents a route through an area designated for parking vehicles

Secondary - All residential roads that feed into a main road

LANES (LANES):

1 for Alley's & Driveway's

2 for any divided segments

DIRECTION (DIRECTION):

U = Unspecified or Bidirectional - applies to all roads within the town excepted divided streets

N = Northbound - used with divided streets

S = Southbound - used with divided streets

E = Eastbound - used with divided streets

W = Westbound - used with divided streets

BUILT_CODE (BUILT_CODE):

Used so that the layer can be symbolized for various mapping products

B = Built, applies to all roads that are not either a "U" or a "D". A plan has been registered or a DP has been approved.

U = Unbuilt(planned), derived through neighbourhood plan, no road names have been approved - primarily used by planning for fire response mapping

D = Curbs in (unbuilt but drivable), tentative, no register plans yet, should have road names assigned has been CCC'd.

REGISTRATION (REGISTRATION):

PP = Preliminary Plan - Obtained from neighbourhood plan

RP = Registered Plan - Registered with Land Titles

TP = Tentative Plan - a proposed plan submitted by the developer prior to being registered

CLOSURE_CODE (CLOSURE_CODE):

Only this code is being used

FG = Fire Gate used with all emergency access roads

ND = No Device

VR = Vehicular Restriction, barricade exist between a completed and an uncompleted road

SPEED_KMH

All speed limits are reviewed by Fire & Safety Codes

Valid speed limits are:

15 - used mainly for traffic circles

20 - Alleyways speed reduces to 20 km/hour

30 - used for most ST_CODE types except Highways

40 - used along Towers Trail

50 - used on some Main's and Secondary's

60 - used on some highways

70 - used on some highways

80 - used on some highways

OWNERSHIP_CODE (PRIVATE_CORP)

C = Corporate, owned by the Town of Cochrane

P = Private, not owned by the Town of Cochrane
