Kelowna currently has one car-share provider, and some new developments offer shared vehicles for residents. These services give people occasional access to cars or a variety of vehicle types without the high fixed costs of ownership. Current carshare rates begin at $5 per hour. Ride-hailing and taxi services also operate in Kelowna, providing another flexible option for accessing a vehicle when needed. The Umo electronic fare system has modernized transit fare payment, improving convenience and flexibility for riders. We will continue to monitor vehicle ownership and expand convenient, affordable transportation options. These alternatives help households meet daily travel needs without relying on a private vehicle.
