Bowen Island Area Area Ortho Imagery 2025
Orthorectified image files for the area shown in magenta on the thumbnail image. The collection year is 2025, with some of the northern images collected in 2024 (see the georeferenced .pdf within the zipped folder for more information). This dataset includes imagery captured in 2024 and in 2025 with the majority of the images being flown in 2025. The overall flight window was from March 2024 until August 2025. The long capture window was primarily due to Air Traffic Control issues at YVR airport preventing the vendor from gaining access to the airspace. This does make vegetation analysis difficult and for mapping purposes, there will be a seasonal variation across the whole image.
The image is MrSid format and is 7.5 cm resolution. This is primarily three bands; Red, Green and Blue plus a 4th Alpha band which identifies No Data areas within a single tile. This would occur primarily around the exterior edges of the MVRD region. It can be useful when layering other images or GIS data.
The specific Area of Interest for this dataset includes all urban areas, all rural and all wilderness areas outside of the MVRD Water Supply Areas (WSA). There are small corridors within the WSA's to include Capilano/Cleveland Dam, Seymour Falls Dam and Coquitlam Dam.
