City of Ottawa Cultural Funding Results
The City of Ottawa values the contribution that local not-for-profit cultural organizations, professional artists, and heritage workers make to our community, and it annually invests in arts, heritage, and culture through Cultural funding and awards programs. These programs are managed by the Cultural funding support unit. All funds, except those administered through Purchase of service agreements, endowment funds, or honoraria, use a peer assessment model in the evaluation process, involving professionals who are active within their cultural communities.
This dataset outlines all the applicants who were awarded funding in 2025, funding amounts, as well as the peer assessors who reviewed the applications.
Accuracy:
No known errors. Points of consideration for interpretation of the data:
- All funded activities meet the objectives of the program through which they were funded. Detailed information about cultural funding programs and their objectives can be found on the City of Ottawa website or by contacting [email protected].
- Cultural funding summary reports for years prior to 2025 can be found on the ottawa.ca website.
- Organizations receiving multi-year operating funding are not assessed in jury unless it is the start of a new funding cycle.
- This dataset does not include unsuccessful applicants.
- For information on how decisions are made and the policy governing this process, please refer to the Cultural funding policy.
Update Frequency: Yearly (March)
Attributes:
- Year: the year the funding was awarded.
- Recipient: the organization or the individual who received the funding. There are four (4) different fields used for recipient: organization name, first name, last name, and artist name, as applicable.
- Program: The funding program through which the funding was awarded.
- Category: the type of funding received (project, award, honorarium, purchase of service, and annual, biannual or three-year operating).
- Discipline: the specific funding stream within the program (i.e. dance, theatre, film and video, arts services and arts venues, etc.).
- Amount awarded: amount awarded for the project or for the organization’s fiscal year, in the case of operating funding.
- Assessed (Yes/No): indicates whether the file was assessed in jury (yes) or if it was a reporting year for a recipient receiving multi-year operating support (no).
- Juror: member of the peer assessment committee who reviewed the file and made funding recommendations.
- Notes: notes specific to the funding allocation, if applicable.
